About
Laura Stöckler writes texts for and about film, performance, and visual arts. She completed her Master’s degree at the University of Vienna in Cultural and Literary Studies. She undertook additional studies in Cultural and Social Anthropology, Art History, and Fine Arts. Her MA thesis Horrors that Matter: Deconstructing Binary Conculteptualisations of Sex/Gender and the Body in Four ALTER short films was honoured with the Department of English’s student award for excellent academic achievements.
Since 2019, she has been writing for several magazines, including LES NOUVEAUX RICHES, Talking Shorts, and Gata Magazine. Her writing, both academic and non-academic engages deeply with cultural products, emphasizes their singularity and specificity to explore the complexity of socio-cultural structures and dynamics.
Over the last two years, she has worked as a researcher, production coordinator, and co-writer on Brute Force, an essay film by research-led artist Felix Lenz. From the interference patterns of neutrons to data centres and salt lakes, »Brute Force« captures how our world’s complexity collides with the simplified rationalities of our digital age.
